Raku is a form of Japanese ceramic pottery in which the glaze
is fired to the point of melting and then the object is immersed in some sort
of flamable material (straw, leaves, paper, etc.)and is allowed to finish
in an atmosphere devoid of oxygen which results in metallic lustres and a
multitude of surprise effects. Raku shows colourings of blues to browns to
bronze, every piece is different, so yours might differ a little from that
shown in the photo - the shape and detail will be the same but the colouring
will vary.
